Chicago’s Finest Marina, a historic marina located at 557 East 134th Place, Chicago, IL 60827, sits along the banks of the Little Calumet River. The facility offers both indoor and outdoor boat storage, supported by experienced yard personnel.
Proudly owned and operated by the Gaines Family, Chicago’s Finest Marina is the oldest Black-owned marina in the area. Beyond serving as a hub for boaters, it holds cultural and historical significance, as the property was once home to the Jan and Aagje Ton Farm, a documented stop on the Underground Railroad. In 2020, the site was recognized by the National Park Service’s Network to Freedom program for its role in this powerful history.
In September 2024, the marina hosted a community open house in partnership with local organizations to showcase the African American Heritage Water Trail, connecting residents with the area's rich river history and honoring the stories of resilience and freedom that define it.
